Filming off to a great start

Filming is off to a great start for 2010! We’ve already had two feature films and one commercial filmed in Maple Ridge, and several more productions are lined up for later in the month and early February.

Filming is big business in BC, and Maple Ridge attracts more than our share of film each year. With Industry estimates of $10,000 of revenue to the community per 'shoot day' we're doing everything we can to continue to attract productions to Maple Ridge.
Behind the scenes: A production filming in a neighbourhood of mostly retired residents invited the neighbours over to the set for a few meals, and many friendships were rekindled and new ones made. Some of the neighbours hadn’t seen each other for years and were very appreciative of the opportunity not only to check out the movie making business, but to see familiar faces again – it was like a block party!

For information on how to register your property as a location for filming or for other informatinon related to the film industry in Maple Ridge visit us online at http://www.investmapleridge.ca/ (filming is listed under the Business Tab); call our Film Liaison Officer at 604-467-7320
